Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to inform the student about the basic art and design theories and to enable the student to read and interpret images and to become competent about research and conceptualization methods in design in a way that supports creative idea generation.
Course Content: In this course, information will be given about research and conceptualization methods in design, the effects of art movements on design studies, important designers and their works. Students are expected to do introductory design studies and present their work in the course in line with the assignments given.

3) Visual cues: Form and design Pre-readings on the topics
4) Visual Signs: Depth and design Pre-readings on the topics
5) Visual Signals: Movement and design. Homework. Pre-readings on the topics
6) Homework evaluation. Students are expected to work in line with the assigned homework before coming to class.
7) Sensory and Perceptual Introduction to Visual Theories. Pre-readings on the topics
8) Midterm exam Pre-readings on the topics
9) Sensory Theories: Introduction to Gestalt theory. Pre-readings on the topics
10) Sensory Theories: Continuing Gestalt principles. Homework Pre-readings on the topics
11) Homework evaluation. Sensory Theories: Constructivism Students are expected to work in line with the assigned homework before coming to class.
12) Perceptual Theories: Cognitive Theory Pre-readings on the topics
13) Perceptual Theories: Semiotics. Homework. Students are expected to make pre-shoots in line with the final project given before coming to the class.
14) Perceptual Theories: Semiotics cont. Homework evaluation. Pre-readings on the topics
