Course Objectives: |
The aim of this course is to make the students familiar with and grant them an overall understanding of the growing field of art therapy. Within this framework, the international historical developments leading to the consolidation of this vibrant area will be introduced, different theories and approaches, the psychoanalytical views in particular, that informed its development will be discussed and various techniques conducted with both individuals and groups will be presented. The students will also be encouraged to reflect on how these different theories and applications foster or run short in terms of alleviating mental difficulties and enabling human expression and creativity. |
