Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: To teach students the fundamental principles of 2D animation, introduce motion graphics design processes, and provide the skills to create digital animations using industry-standard software such as Adobe After Effects.
Course Content: The 12 basic principles of animation, keyframe logic, layer management, masking, typography animation, basics of character rigging, and integration of visual effects (VFX) into animation.

1) Applies the 12 basic principles of animation to digital projects.
2) Manages timing and spacing settings in motion graphics projects.
3) Performs the transfer and preparation of vector graphics into animation software.
4) Uses advanced keyframe assistants and Graph Editors.
5) Animates text and typography according to motion design rules.
6) Animates characters by establishing basic skeletal systems (Rigging).

2) Keyframe Logic and Basic Transformation Properties Reading on layer hierarchy and coordinate systems.
3) First 6 Principles of Animation (Squash, Stretch etc.) Richard Williams - "The Animator's Survival Kit" (Chapter 1).
4) Graph Editor and Speed Curves Technical analysis of timing and spacing.
5) Masking and Shape Layers The process of preparing vector graphics for animation.
6) Motion Typography and Text Animations Research on typographic motion trends in graphic design.
7) Parenting and Null Objects Practices for establishing hierarchical structures in complex animations.
8) Midterm Exam (Practical Project) Application of technical skills from the first 7 weeks.
9) Puppet Tool and Flexible Structures Preliminary work on character anatomy and joint points.
10) Basic Character Rigging Techniques Documents on using scripts and plugins (e.g., DUIK).
11) Background Design and Parallax Effect Multi-layered scene design and camera movements.
12) Visual Effects (VFX) and Particle Systems Review of simulation tools and the effects panel.
13) Lighting, Shadows, and Advanced Composition Academic reading on visual aesthetics and color harmony.
14) Render Settings and Export Formats (Lottie, MP4, GIF) Codec and export standards according to digital platforms.
15) Final Project Development and Workshop Individual project consultancy and troubleshooting.
16) Final Exam (Project Submission) Presentation and analysis of finished animation projects.
