Aim of the Programme

Painting is one of the most rooted pursuits in human history. This occupation, which accompanies the first architectural works and religious places from cave paintings, will become independent from architecture and sculpture, especially as of the 15th century, and become autonomous as a separate branch of art. The invention of oil painting and the application of the perspective that allows giving the third dimension on the two-dimensional surface will increase the applicability of the painting in both religious and non-religious fields. A rich tradition stretching from Michelangelo to Da Vinci to Brueghel and Rembrandt will introduce painting into the world of everyday life. The understandings that started with Impressionism in the 19th century and described as modernism will take painting on a very different route with the efforts of artists such as Picasso at the beginning of the 20th century. The aim of the Painting Department is to develop the intellectual, visual, and artistic abilities of the artist candidates who will contribute to the art world. It is to provide the artist candidates with the ability to use the elements and principles of the plastic language of painting competently and at the same time to reveal original production forms.
