Course Objectives: | This course aims to examine the historical development and transformation of international political economy. International Political Economy aims to understand the economic logic of today's world system and the relations arising from this system. |
Course Content: | In this course, international trade, international finance and monetary systems, transnational companies and production will be evaluated from different theoretical and conceptual frameworks. The topics that will be covered in this course: the development of mercantilist, liberal and Marxist paradigms, the development of the international monetary system in the post-World War II period, the roles of international organizations such as the IMF, World Bank, GATT/WTO, the collapse of the Bretton Woods system and the globalization process, Debt Crises in the post-1980s and after the financial crisis of 2008, the EU's economic and monetary position of the World. Finally, Covid 19 pandemic and its effect on the world economy. |
