Istanbul Topkapı University was established as a Foundation Vocational School under the name Plato Vocational School with four departments, following the decision of the Council of Ministers dated April 21, 2009.
In line with efforts to train specialized professionals in various fields and provide undergraduate education in Turkey, the Istanbul Ayvansaray University was founded by the Ayvansaray Education Foundation through Law No. 6761, published in the Official Gazette dated November 24, 2016 (issue no. 29898) and adopted on November 16, 2016. Accordingly, Plato Vocational School was affiliated with Istanbul Ayvansaray University in 2016. Parallel to growing student satisfaction and institutional expansion, the university, which started with four departments, had by 2016 grown to offer more than 60 programs and became one of the most preferred foundation universities in Turkey with high enrollment rates.
Continuing its educational activities with a renewed mission focused on innovation and internationalization, Istanbul Ayvansaray University underwent a structural transformation and, under Law No. 7382 published in the Official Gazette on March 11, 2022 (issue no. 31775), was renamed Istanbul Topkapı University, continuing its educational and academic mission under this new name.
The university, which began its educational journey in 2009 with a single building, now operates in 2024 across seven campuses, covering nearly 150,000 square meters.2’ye yakın alan ile devam etmektedir.
Within Istanbul Topkapı University, there are the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Faculty of Sports Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Communication, the Graduate School, and Plato Vocational School.
The university currently offers 36 master’s programs and 2 doctoral programs, along with 37 undergraduate departments and 56 associate degree programs, continuing its mission to educate self-confident graduates who embrace an entrepreneurial culture and can make meaningful contributions to the business world.
The Kazlıçeşme Campus houses the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, the Plato Vocational School, and the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture; the Balat Campus hosts the Preparatory Department; the Şişli Campus includes the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and the Culinary Program; the Altunizade Campus accommodates the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, and technology-oriented departments of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture; the Bahçeşehir Campus includes departments of the Plato Vocational School; the Levent Campus houses the Faculty of Sports Sciences; and the Yenibosna Campus serves as a site for practical applications and training facilities.
