Course Objectives: | The course aims to give general information about the development process of art, design and history of architecture; to convey this information to the place and relationships in the context of social history and the cause-effect relationship of events. |
Course Content: | The course starts with the history of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Anatolia, Ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine cultures and continues with the Islamic culture and Far East cultures. It introduces the art and culture of the mentioned periods. Art and visual culture works are elaborated through comparative cultural studies, drawing attention to social and historical contexts. This course is supported by lectures and discussions, detailed readings and educational trips. In this course, architectural terminology is introduced. Students are introduced to important cultures outside the West. |
