Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: 1- Will be able to define the field of forensic psychology and the specific application areas of psychology within the legal system.
2- Will be able to establish the relationship between criminal behavior and mental illnesses and psychopathology.
3- Will be able to explain the theories that can explain crime, criminal behavior and delinquency in children, including social and developmental reasons.
4- Has knowledge about criminal profiling and will be able to partially profile.
Course Content: Introducing the concepts of forensic psychology and basic law, understanding the history of forensic psychology, examining the situations that remove and reduce criminal liability in the Turkish Penal Code and the capacity to act in the Turkish Civil Code, understanding the perspective of psychological theories on crime/criminal, getting to know expression analysis methods; Topics such as examining personality, mood and paraphilia disorders in terms of crime/criminal capacity constitute the content of this course. This course is designed to provide an understanding of the relationship between psychology and law by demonstrating how research and theory in psychology inform the legal process.
