Aim of the Programme

The English Language and Literature undergraduate program is designed to examine English literature specificly in literature, history, philosophy, religion, art, politics and social life. Students will have the opportunity to improve their English proficiency by taking courses tailored to improve reading, listening, writing and speaking skills. Students with basic English knowledge develop their language proficiency and examine literary texts related to English literature in the system with certain period features. Students who are fluent in advanced level, are educated in poetry, drama, novel, short story and criticism in the field of English Language and Literature at the beginning of the seminar, accompanied by texts. With the lessons of criticism and contemporary literary theories, learners not only have a deep knowledge of literary and cultural traditions but also of contemporary popular culture and critical theory. Department graduates find opportunities to work in the financial, advertising, media and tourism sectors and publishing houses, as well as English language lecturers, translators and public officials.
